Monday 29 March 2010• Toyota has agreed to licence the hybrid technology in the Prius to Mazda, which will combine the electric system with its next-gen Sky engines. It’s part of Mazda’s plans to increase the average fuel economy of its vehicles by 30% by 2015 (compared to 2008 levels) and it hopes to have its first hybrid vehicle on sale in Japan by 2013 (Mazda)• Ford and Chinese car company Geely have signed a stock purchase agreement that will allow the latter to acquire 100% of Volvo (along with related assets including intellectual property rights).
The Fisker Karma sedan will soon be available in Canada. The California-based electric-car manufacturer has partnered with the Dilawri Group, Canada's largest automotive dealer group, and the Field Automotive Group. “Both Dilawri and Fields have the premium-brand experience we want and that the customers expect,” Matt Malfitano, director of North American Market Operations at Fisker, said in a statement.
The twin-turbo, 3.8-liter V8 in the McLaren MP4-12C sports car cranks out 592 hp at 7,000 rpm, according to factory performance specs released on Sunday. The engine hits its torque peak of 443 lb-ft at 3,000 rpm and holds it up to 7,000 rpm. That power gives the MP4-12C a top speed of 205 mph.
